Bakersfield Events

More than its reputation suggests. This is the city that gave American country music the Bakersfield Sound, with Merle Haggard and Buck Owens recording here before the rest of the world caught up. The Kern County Fair draws tens of thousands of people every fall. The Basque Block in Old Town Kern is home to some of the oldest and most distinctive restaurants in California. The Kern River runs right through the city with miles of trails alongside it. Concerts, markets, community gatherings, and live music keep the calendar busy year-round. Bakersfield tends to surprise people who actually show up.

Concerts and live music, farmers markets, festivals and fairs, kids and family activities, library and community programs, arts and theater, sports, nightlife, and community gatherings. The site pulls from venues, organizers, libraries, chambers of commerce, and event platforms across Bakersfield and Kern County. If it is open to the public and posted somewhere, the goal is for it to show up here.

Use the day chips near the top of the page to jump to a specific date, or open This Weekend (bakersfield.events/this-weekend) to see Friday evening through Sunday at once. Filter by category, search by keyword, or switch to the map view to see what is happening closest to you.

It refreshes daily. New events appear as venues and organizers post them, and past events roll off automatically. If something just got announced, give it a day and check back.

Yes. Use the Suggest an Event page to send us a listing. You can also suggest an ongoing source (a venue calendar, a community page) and we will look into adding it so future events from that source show up automatically.
