Suggest a Source
Help grow the feed.
The calendar is built from more than a hundred public sources that are read every night: venue calendars, library and chamber schedules, ticketing pages, recurring markets, newsletters and community pages. A source we add once keeps paying off, because every event it posts afterwards shows up here without anyone typing it in.
What makes a good source
- A page that lists upcoming events with dates, not a single flyer (use Suggest an Event for those).
- Public, no login required, updated at least monthly.
- In or near Kern County: Bakersfield, Tehachapi, Delano, Shafter, Wasco, Taft, Arvin, the Kern River Valley and the mountain communities.
- Best of all: an official calendar feed (iCal / .ics), an RSS feed, or a ticketing page. Plain web pages and Instagram accounts work too; they just take a little longer to set up.
What happens next
Suggestions are read by a person. A source that fits is added to the registry, test-read for a few days to check the dates and venues come through cleanly, and then published. Each listing it produces links back to it as its source. If the source has terms that forbid reuse, or asks not to be listed, it is not added.
