This is an out of town trek that you can do in a day when you live in LA! I can't end my summer vacation without heading out to one of my favorite hiking locations. We start at noon as it gives time to get there and believe me the later start really works for this one! * For this hike it is important to keep an eye on the weather for the area, traffic to get there and also Los Padres Forest Service information * From Simi it is a 90 minute drive. It is always about 20 degrees cooler at the trailhead. Due to the elevation, come prepared for any weather. I was hailed on while there in August 2020. * This is a remote area with no facilities near the trailhead. At the freeway offramp Flying J's has all amenities you might need to either fill up on, use their restroom etc. Be prepared for some mountain driving as the road is windy and narrow, with beautiful views as you get higher.
